Richard is a Partner at Catalyst and has over 25 years of corporate finance advisory experience.

Across his career Richard has led over 80 transactions with a significant focus on advising private company shareholders on trade sales and private equity investments. He also leads the team across the Midlands practice. 

Recent transactions include the management buy-outs of ProLabsWestleigh Homes and the NEC Group, the initial acquisitions and follow on growth capital investments for Inspired Thinking Group (ITG), and the sales of Fleet Hire to Australia-based SG Fleet Group, Zycko to Rigby Private Equity, Morrells to US-based RPM International Inc, LH Group to US-based Wabtec Corporation, Powwownow to US-based PGi Inc and Bowplex to The Original Bowling Company.

Richard has a particular focus on the Technology, Media and Telecoms (TMT) sector and, based on significant transaction experience, works with a number of Construction clients. 

Richard qualified as a chartered accountant with Grant Thornton, subsequently moving to become a director within Ernst & Young’s corporate finance team, which period included a secondment to a major bank’s restructuring team.

Richard is married with two children. Staying fit is a priority - his son is a university representative rower, his daughter plays county hockey and his wife is a former Great Britain canoeist. Cycling, skiing, tennis and golf are his chosen forms of exercise. Outside of this, Richard acts as a business mentor with the Princes Trust.
