Global Freight Solutions (GFS)

Deal summary

Global Freight Solutions (GFS) is a leading provider of parcel and carrier management services to retail and B2B businesses in the UK. Using its proprietary technology platform, GFS arranges delivery of approximately 10 million parcels per year on behalf of over 300 customers, providing these businesses with access to over 1,000 different delivery options through approximately 50 carriers.

No other delivery business provides such a combination of technology-enabled carrier management, parcels handling and complementary logistics services. This unique capability is particularly attractive to high growth SME and mid-tier clients looking to offer their customers a choice of delivery services in an efficient, easy to manage and cost effective way, enabling them to compete with tier one retailers. The proposition is also highly beneficial to carriers, giving them the ability to serve a wider population of customers more cost effectively than they could address alone whilst enabling them to focus on their core and more profitable delivery services.

Having completed several deals in the space including the investments in CitySprint and Addison Lee, we were asked by Phoenix to help with the transaction.

What difference did we make?

We prepared a detailed business plan with a particular focus on GFS’s unique capability, its growth strategy and exit options. This included working with management to build a new financial forecast and flexible model. This exercise was fundamental to creating a business plan suitable for a financial and commercial diligence exercise. We also supported Phoenix on legal matters and a detailed funds flow preparation.
